Stardew Valley Villager Paths – New 1.6 Update

, , ,

Villager Paths of Destruction1.6 maps are here! (Current as of 1.6.9)

It has taken me a bit, but here are the Stardew Valley Villager Paths for the 1.6 update. A lot of the maps have altered paths (and corrections from things I’ve missed before), so be sure to check them out. I’ve also linked the older maps so you can compare, or prepare for when the update is released for you.
I filled the entire world of Stardew  Valley with items with one goal in mind, let the villagers destroy everything… which they did. For SCIENCE! or rather… for DECORATING!
Haven’t updated your game yet and are looking for the 1.5 maps? You can find them here.
With the 1.6 update, there have been a few changes with festivals and such, so I set out to make an updated version of my Stardew Valley NPC Maps, and SWEET YOBA did I make it hard for myself by using CHESTS of all things to mark breakage paths. Why you ask?

Welp, there goes that! Yeah, I loaded up my map making farm and people were kicking chests all OVER the place! Hearing a dozen chest thumping noises all at once (I use a time speed mod) was both hilarious and disheartening. I use the chests to indicate where walking hasn’t occurred, and someone just pushing it along doesn’t track that properly.

So, I asked for some help in the SDV creator community and got some good advice, but ultimately dug around in the code to remove the object property for chests to make them destructible again. We like destruction in this farm.

I had been thinking of updating the look of these maps for a while now too, so I changed the look of the chests to be the green building placement square, and filled in any actual paths with a modified path to look like the red placement square.

Any new piece of land added is indicated by the witch rarecrow. Green paths are safe to place, red is in the path of destruction.

I am also extremely embarrassed to admit this, but making the original maps took days longer than needed. I didn’t even think to use debug console commands back then, and I started placing items and paths one by one over again. Then I remembered the clearfarm command, so I figured there should be a fill with debris or something. I found the debug fillwithobject command and my soul left my body. I could literally just input the object id and the game will fill any available space with said item.

And here I was filling in spaces one by one like some Joja chump.

With that knowledge, (and after staring at myself in the mirror working through a roller coaster of emotions, questioning my purpose and the time I have left in this world and thinking about how much I had lost and wasted) I got back to work.

So, I now have all locations in the Stardew Valley Maps filled with green squares for original safe spaces, red squares for original destroyed spaces, and filled the red paths back up with some blue crates, so I can see what old unsafe spaces are now safe, and what old safe spaces are bad spots, and I let the game run in the background while doing other things, so here we are!

I also remarried everyone, and did my best to account for different events and schedule changes.

And you want to know what happened? Haha! I broke my save file. The original farm I used for this somehow got a bit messed up with some rouge mod used that wasn’t fully updated to the current Stardew version, and the villagers went out of their way to destroy everything for some reason. So, I had to a whole new file, and went through the whole process again, which is why this took a few weeks longer than planned.

Actually, what happened was something that was added in the game as of 1.6. Villagers will opt to avoid any space that has something that’s classified as “TerrainFeatures” such as the new trees, and unfortunately, paths WERE currently under that classification prior to the 1.6.9 update. If you kept placing down flooring, villagers wrecked havoc. Concerned Ape reached out and informed me that it was going to be fixed with an update, and as of November 4th it is! YAY!

Some example “broken” maps to showcase my pain

Some locations are not shown here, they are either completely used, or are unused. These will be adjusted as I discover more about the 1.6 changes. With me working on updating these, I went ahead and filled them all with breakables to see if anything happens. Like the wizards tower… just a little reminder of his past mistakes. I’m the only witch he needs…

The original maps were taken from a 100% completed game file, with which I did everything I could possibly do to access every map and variation, so there may be some spoilers if you haven’t worked through the 1.5 update released in 2020. I avoided mapping any potential 1.6 spoilers, they are noted later.

And as a bonus, I added additional maps for any area affected by marriage candidates. I’ve marked the people who change each map, and a version showing just their damage, as well as an alternative map for if you don’t marry any of those listed. Elliott makes no changes to any maps after marriage, and the most destructive prize goes to Alex, at 46 spaces destroyed after his 14❤️️ event, followed closely by Emily, with 44 spaces, mostly at the beach.

This map got a major overhaul, a lot of paths shifted a bit, changing the map quite a bit. Plus the new Festivals added some more villager paths.

*Note* there is a secret on the map, and I didn’t mark it because I believe in the joy of discovery. But if you want to know, it’s a safe space, no one goes there.

The Bus StopWith All Marriageable Villager Paths

With new festivals, people other than Pam, Emily and Abigail come here! Abigail completely switched sides when she comes here.

Emily takes the bus on Fall 15 that destroys 4 spots, and it’s the same route taken by any marriage candidate during the Desert Festival.

Pictured after Year 3 and the Trash Bear has done their thing. I finally got around to grabbing Robin’s axe but she’s probably never getting it back. That spawning in destroyed a chest but it should be safe after that is done.
1.6 added a festival that brought a lot of foot traffic, with the booth taking out some space.

The Ocean and TidepoolsWith All Marriageable Villager Paths

No Marriage Icon, Mermaid pendant with a red crossed out circle

A lot of chests were destroyed when the Villagers started heading to Willy’s Boat, as well as some on the docks from when I got married to a couple of different candidates.

With the new 1.6 festival here, there is a bit more foot traffic and some spaces taken out by the stall.

Emily has the only marriage path that breaks additional spots.

The MountainsWith All Marriageable Villager Paths

The Mountains have a bit more added land this update, but not much has changed apart from that. Both Abigail and Sebastian break some spaces here. Once you have all the community upgrades, Sebastian will use the path to cross the lake, married or not.

The Trainyard / Railroad

The train is a ghost train, it didn’t crush my villager paths. Abigail, Alex, Linus and Sebastian all come up here.

I have also made an alternative version of this map, with the places that you can place furniture items to make those visiting villagers “phase” through all your stuff. Note on that: I gave Linus a little extra space, otherwise his path will break and he’ll wander off and potentially bulldoze a bunch of stuff.

Bathhouse

The Women’s room is still untouched so I didn’t include the picture. Also, the shower in the Men’s room STILL hasn’t been used. Gross Alex… just gross. But, he does change his path, and the Entrance has changed too.

Calico Desert

Emily visits Sandy for her birthday once a year, and they go on a rampage. The villager paths haven’t changed with the 1.6 update, which is nice. The new festival changes to an alternative new map like all other festivals, so your things will remain untouched.

And I’ve included an alternative of the Stardew Valley maps with crystal “furniture” items placed in what I think are the best spots to avoid having anything damaged at all, allowing them to phase right through your stuff.

Sandy’s Oasis

This is one of the few places that has no changes to the villager pathing.

The Seed Shop where Pierre, Abigail and Caroline all kick it. 1.5 added the space near the bottom. 1.6 changed up some decor and paths. Marriage to Alex, Harvey, Shane or Penny break a few spaces. If you aren’t married to any of them, see the attached Stardew Valley maps.

Caroline’s Tea Room

Harvey’s Clinic

I made sure that every Villager that has an appointment with Harvey made it to their checkups so that the space here is updated. 1.6 hadn’t changed Stardew Valley npc paths in here.
And no, you can’t place anything on the beds here, I just liked the aesthetics.

Harvey’s Apartment

Granny’s Place

Evelyn and George’s place. Oh, and Alex lives here too I guess. The notable update here is George & Evelyn’s room. A bed fit for two!

Pam & Penny’s Trailer Home

A few changes here

Pam & Penny’s Home

I’m still a bit upset that I financed this place and Pam still sleeps on the couch.

Jodi, Vincent, Sam and Kent

Another great upgrade! Kent and Jodi have a big bed! But it looks like Kent is a bit of a bed hog.

Emily and Haley’s HomeWith Marriageable Villager Paths

No Marriage Icon, Mermaid pendant with a red crossed out circle
Emily & Haley’s home. This place gets visited by both sisters after marriage. Haley destroys 2 spaces in the living room, and Emily causes no additional damage to the Stardew Valley npc paths.

Lewis’s Mayor Manor

We have an added machine here, otherwise, no changes to the Stardew Valley npc paths.

Stardrop Saloon “Before”

This is how the Saloon looks before changes with Alex’s 14 heart event. I have the after-event shot near the bottom of the page with the other “Spoilers.”

Note about Green Rain: This summer event brings a lot more people here, but apart from Clint and Gus, they don’t move. Haley and Penny stand in spots that are “safe” spaces any other day, but the item won’t get destroyed as the villagers are just spawned in the spot and don’t move or add the villager paths. Also, I have noticed after testing a good 20+ in game years that the Green Rain schedule only seems to apply to Year 1. After that, it seems like Green Rain gets treated as a regular rainy day, and only affects the Stardew Valley maps in other areas.

The Blacksmith

I love the added decor touches, and bonus! They don’t take away from spaces you can place, so no added villager paths. It’s almost like they are wall shelves that we see the back of instead of on the ground.

The Museum & Library

There was a very small change with the addition of Leo, and villager paths have altered slightly.

The Carpenter (Robin, Demetrius and Maru)With Marriageable Villager Paths

No Marriage Icon, Mermaid pendant with a red crossed out circle
Sebastian and Maru both visit home after you marry them. Sebastian doesn’t destroy any additional spaces, but Maru destroys one in the lab, so I added the optional Stardew Valley NPC Paths map.

Sebastian’s Dungeon

Changes to the Stardew Valley Maps made here during Green Rain.

Marnie’s Ranch

Finally caught Marnie on a day she’s working. Shane visits after you get married, but doesn’t change the villager paths.

Leah’s Cottage

Elliott’s Cabin

Willy’s Shop

Willy’s backroom gets no actual foot traffic, so it’s a Safe Zone. There’s a new thing over there, but so far no one seems to go over there.

Jojamart

Can’t say I trust leaving items in here, but you can. Although, if you complete the Community Center with things inside here, they are gone forever. I learned that the hard way and had to re-do JojaMart on a new farm because I forgot to get a picture the first time. It’s possible that they end up in the lost and found though! If there are any Stardew Valley NPC Paths changes in here due to the changed Joja path/ending, I haven’t gotten them yet.

The Community Center Completed

Before you complete the community center, there isn’t any foot traffic in here, so it’s not pictured. Keep in mind, if you put stuff in here and then finish the Community Center or your Joja Membership, your stuff is going bye bye. It’s possible that they end up in the lost and found though!

Ginger Island

Leo’s Hut

The Jungle

The package in the southeast is a safe spot after you pick it up.

Ginger Island Shrine

Leo does come over here from time to time.

Island South (Resort Built)

I spent a ton of time trying to get every Villager to visit the resort to fill out the Stardew Valley Villager paths. Nearly all of them do, apart from Willy, the Wizard, Linus, George and Evelyn, Sandy, Gunther, Dwarf and Krobus, and all the “other” NPC’s. As I was watching them it looks like there are a few villagers who have specific paths, like Sam playing his guitar, and others swap between a few different patterns. I’m not 100% sure they have done all their damage, but this is the result of letting them cause property damage on the resort every sunny day for a year and a half in-game.

Island North

I chopped down all the trees to make it easier to see. The only person who comes up here is Leo. I had him do his normal routine for an in-game year before I triggered his 6❤️️ event that changes things up. Afterward, I gave him another year with his new routine so that I could see the final results. Leo’s cutscenes don’t affect the villager paths.

SPOILERS BELOW

The below pictures are Stardew Valley paths from areas you have access to after you complete the community center, and stuff some may consider spoilers.

Stardrop Saloon “After”

Alex’s 14 heart event opens up the back room for Game Day. Shane also destroys two spaces in front of the fireplace after the game, otherwise, the Stardew Valley NPC paths are the same as before.

Theater Interior

I took EVERY villager to the movies. I placed the chests when there wasn’t anyone really in here, and the various loitering patrons don’t destroy anything. Other villagers who watch the move and leave at the end will destroy stuff. This time I went ahead and did 4 movies per villager, and made sure that everyone had a chance to watch from the audience.

Joja Theater

If you sold your soul to the company store, the Community Center will be a warehouse. Nobody goes in there, so it’s a Safe Zone until you upgrade it to a Theater. The Joja Theater pathing is the exact same as the regular one.

Leo’s Treehouse

I initially marked this as a “Danger Zone” but after this go around I found there are two spot unbroken.

New Locations from 1.6 updateNew maps, new potential “farm expansions”(places to put more stuff for more $)

This new update brings not just a few new locations, but quite a few adjustments to previous locations. There are a few places that have maps but as of my map making, these are considered “Safe Zones”
Mastery Cave
Basement
Secret Location? (Added Island map, currently confirmed to not have been added in game so never mind all that)
